PublicationsThe AAR publishes print and online publications to serve our members and the field of religious studies, including the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, Reading Religion, Religious Studies News, five academic book series published by Oxford University Press, monthly e-Bulletins, In the Field, and special topic online pubs. The AAR's Publications Committee coordinates the AAR's scholarly publications program and the Awards for Excellence in the Study of Religion and Best First Book in the History of Religion Book Award Juries oversee the annual book prizes awarded by the AAR. 
Journal of the American Academy of ReligionThe Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR), published by Oxford University Press, is the premier academic journal in religious studies. The international quarterly publishes top scholarly articles that cover the full range of world religious traditions together with provocative studies of the methodologies by which these traditions are explored. Each issue also contains a valuable book review section. Online access to current and archived issues of JAAR is an AAR member benefit. 
Reading ReligionReading Religion (RR) is an open book review website published by the American Academy of Religion. Launched in 2016, the site provides up-to-date coverage of scholarly publishing in religious studies, reviewed by scholars with special interest and/or expertise in the relevant subfields. Reviews are concise, comprehensive, and timely. 
Religious Studies NewsReligious Studies News (RSN) is the online newspaper of record for the field especially designed to serve professionals involved in teaching and scholarship in religion (broadly construed to include religious studies, theology, and sacred texts). RSN communicates the important events of the field and examines critical issues in education, pedagogy (especially through the biannual Spotlight on Teaching), theological education (through the annual Spotlight on Theological Education), research, publishing, and the public understanding of religion. 
Book SeriesThe AAR publishing program with Oxford University Press produces quality scholarship for religion scholars. This includes hundreds of titles, many of which have become essential tools in the development of the field and in the training of new scholars. The five book series are Academy; Reflection and Theory in the Study of Religion; Religion, Culture, and History; Religion in Translation; and Teaching Religious Studies. In the FieldIn the Field is a members-only online publication that accepts, calls for papers, grant news, conference announcements, and other opportunities appropriate for scholars of religion. There is no charge for members, non-members, or organizations to submit notices to In the Field. Online PublicationsSeveral online publications are available for viewing or download, including the Career Guide published by the AAR's Committee on the Status of Racial and Ethnic Minorities in the Profession, and the Guidelines for Teaching About Religion in K-12 Public Schools in the U.S., published by the AAR's Task Force on Religion in the Schools.
