2020 Annual Meeting

Your AAR staff continues to work toward holding the Annual Meeting in Boston, Nov. 21-24, 2020. We are aware of the uncertainty and contradictory projections related to the COVID-19 pandemic and with health and safety as a priority, we will continue monitoring the guidance of governments and health experts as we plan and make decisions. Should any changes need to be made related to the 2020 Annual Meeting, we will promptly notify you.

Robert Puckett joined the AAR in 2004 as an intern for the Religionsource Project. Since 2006 he has worked on the Annual Meeting, becoming Director of Meetings in 2008 and Chief Scholarly Engagement Officer in 2019. Robert provides leadership to all aspects of the AAR's scholarly engagement initiatives including the Annual Meeting, Professional Development, Publications, and developing new initiatives around technological solutions for expanding scholarly networking and engagement year-round.

Robert earned his bachelor's degree in Religion and Classical Studies from Dartmouth College, followed by a masters in the History and Critical Theories of Religion from Vanderbilt University and a doctorate in Religion and Society from Boston University. His dissertation was entitled Ye Shall Be Free from Slavery: The Concept of Freedom in Contemporary Wicca. He hopes to one day have the time to revise it into publishable form.

Robert enjoys reading, home-brewing, the theater, and spending time at home with his family and cats.
