Summer Seminars on Theologies of Religious Pluralism and Comparative Theology

These Summer Seminars are not conceived as proseminars in which experts in TRP and comparative theology gather to advance scholarship in these fields. Such meetings already transpire at the annual and regional meetings of the AAR. These meetings are the venue whereby new technical knowledge in these areas is generated.

The need that these Summer Seminars aim to address is markedly different. Theological educators from across the curriculum need to incorporate substantive attention to questions about religious diversity into their own ongoing scholarly and teaching lives, but scholars are unlikely to press ahead into such research and teaching without a substantive and in-depth introduction to the relevant research in TRP and comparative theology. These Summer Seminars are designed for the needs of those relatively new to TRP, allowing them to learn from scholars and advance their understanding.

While we expect that the bulk of applicants will come from seminaries and divinity schools, we also welcome theological educators who teach in theology and religious studies departments.
